Gunsen War Fan/ Tokugawa Clan, Edo Period (17th Century), made of
iron.

A traditional Japanese fan ‘Tessen’ (テッセン) made of iron, decorated with silver inlays of ivy „Karakusa” ornaments and a Tokugawa Mon in the center. This type of ivy inlays was used by the Myochin smiths of the 16th and 17th centuries.

The paper is lacquered in black with a red sun design on each side.
